Netwell commercializes a very interesting product called Clipen which is awfully usefull for Analytics proposes. JUAN: What’s packet sniffer? Packet sniffing for web analytics

Some time ago I’ve wrote the post “What are Log File Analysis and Page Tagging?” about the most popular web analytics technologies “Page tagging” and “Log file analyzers”. I received a comment from Ivo Rehberger (Development Manager, Nextwell) in which he mentioned the advantages of Packet sniffing over the other two technologies. I just omitted this third technology because I wanted to mention the two most popular, but I do agree with Ivo, this technology is as good as the other two and is important at least to mention it (with pros and cons). …”One of the most important advantage

Does viral marketing make any sence?

One of the very interesting presentations in MKTG 2.0 was Greg Johnson’s. He talked about innovation, and one of the topics he mentioned was Viral marketing. Even when some of the previews presenters mentioned their viral campaigns, Greg’s doesn’t doubt in criticize the concept in my opinion in a very exaggerated way. He said something like “What’s viral marketing but the very basic function of the internet itself?” I do not agree with Greg, so let’s see what viral marketing is: Viral marketing and viral advertising refer to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce exponential increases in

Throughput accounting – isn’t your website a system?

When Professor Ing. Adolf Held (MBA) presented in 2001 the topic Thoughput accounting I was a bit more than fascinated. Nowadays it’s still seems to me one of the most important management models, because you could use it for a bunch of different things. While lean accounting based on cost is focused in minimize the cost of capacity, throughput accounting is focused on maximize de use of capacity. The Theory of Constraints, a management philosophy derived from physics, assumes that constraints prevent organizations from achieving better performance. The Theory of Constraints (TOC) is based on a scientific method that has

When your traffic meet the users…

I’ve tested or at least investigate almost every web analytics tools, both log file analyzers and Page Tagging. I love to see how this companies are focus on improving front end stuff, or adding 3000 different reports (most of them doesn’t fit your needs), but none is focus on what I think really matters in web analytics. – Flexibility: Every single project is different and it has to be fixed to the corporate strategy, so how could be possible to use one of the “3000 standard report”, and even if you agree on reviewing each of them, it takes you
