HOW TO SELECT THE WEB ANALYTICS TOOL THAT FIT BEST YOUR NEEDS

Today we have dozens Web Analytics tools to choose from, some of them are completely free and some others are free if you use less than a limited quantity of pageviews (I’m sure that most of you don’t reach that quantity). The broad range of Web Analytics tools represents a complication in decision making for most of people so they come to me normally with the same question “What is the best tool for X amount of money” or when the question cames from a Corporation they go “What is the best Web Analytics tool in the world, I don’t care the cost, I want it

WHAT’S BEHIND THE OMNITURE ACQUISITION BY ADOBE?

Yesterday Adobe has published that they entered into a definitive agreement for Adobe to acquire Omniture in a transaction valued at something like 1.8 billon dollars (fully diluted equity-value basis), with a valuation of 21.5 dollars per share in cash. After reading this announcement lot of things came into my mind and after analyzing for a while I think that things are getting clear to me. Remember the following graph from this post? Well apparently I was right, free tools are getting smarter, no doubt about that and paid tools are working harder to add enough value for making their prices look fair. So, why is Omniture selling their business? Well

MEASURING “SOCIAL CAMPAIGNS” WITH GOOGLE ANALYTICS

If you are already generating Social Campaigns or are just beginning I recommend you to track them so you can folllow the “plan-action-measure” improving Cycle. Some of you have probably very interesting projects but are not experts in programing or coding and normally avoid this kind of post. Don’t do that! This process is really simple and extremely usefull…give me just five minutes and I’ll show you. 1- Once you have planned your Social Campaign (links with interesting content in Facebook, twitter, Orkut, Sonico, MySpace, Hi5, or any other) you will need to define the Source, Medium and Campaign name (if you are generating multiple links in the same “post” then you can use the variable Content

RE DEFINING THE EMAIL MARKETING FUNNEL

The Email marketing funnels are being changing during last years. The most commonly used is the following: Later people fount out that there is another important metric, mainly with the landing of the called “viral marketing“, forwards and/or tell a friend. This new metric added complexity to the funnel and each Analytic Professional opted for a different design. The most commonly used (at least the one I saw the most) is the following one (forwards are inserted into the funnel in different places): The problem with the above displayed funnel is that Forwards aro not part of the conversion process of a single user. I mean people can

TWITTER SECRETS REVEALED BY A HACKER

Yesterday Techcrunch published a post with Twitter Internal information that “a hacker” send them to analyze. Later on Evan Williams (de Twitter) confirmed the attack to Techcrunch. Today I’ve received that information in the eMarketer newsletter. Snoop here  Regarding the information received it would be 25 million users worldwide using twitter by the end of 2009, 100 million users by the end of 2010 and 350 million users by the end of 2011. On the other hand eMarketer calculated in April that Twitter would have 12.1 million US adult users in 2009 and 18.1 million in 2010. Now, in my opinion, is not kind of naive thinking that a company
